“The first time I heard the album I didn’t quite know what to think about it, as it was so different from what I had expected. However, I grew to love the album more and more after each spin. I wasn’t too psyched about it after hearing the first single Heartkiller a few days before receiving the album. While Heartkiller is a good song, it is not a great song. If it was up to me, I would have chosen a different song to give a better first view of the album as a whole… (view full review)

A sneek peek of another song from the new album is out. This time it’s ‘Shatter Me With Hope’. You can listen to it here. I don’t know anything about this website since it’s in a foreign language, but this subject has also been posted at the heartagram boards, so for more details or questions please contact heartagram by clicking here.

“Finnish “love metal” band HIM are finally back with their 7th studio album, Screamworks: Love in Theory and Practice. The album has a due date of February 9th, 2010 here in the states, but let me tell you that it’s probably in your best interest to start preparing now as this is easily the band’s best work in quite some time.

Beginning with the near pop punk intro chords of “In Venere Veritas,” we quickly find HIM to not only be back on the scene, but with more energy than we’ve seen from them in quite awhile. Ville Valo comes across early as Matt Skiba did during the Good Mourning years of Alk Trio with his emotion-drained vocals and borderline graphic storytelling that is only amplified by the near perfected instrumentation of tracks like the late 80’s goth rock jam “Scared to Death” or the much progressive [and lead single], “Heartkiller.” The band swings in and out of rock subgenres with flawless progression that truly displays just how versatile they’ve become over the past 7 albums…” read full review from Under the Gun

HIM’s first single Heartkiller, taken from their forthcoming album Screamworks: Love in Theory and Practice, premiered today on the band’s myspace page. The long awaited single has brought out some mixed feelings amongst fans. But as HIM fans, we know there is one thing we can always expect from HIM … variety!  I don’t know about you but I get bored easily with the same old beat. Luckily, with Valo and his crew that never happens. Each album is in it’s own way unique and different from the previous. And every song within an album is also different (you know what I mean, don’t ya?)

So, what did I think of Heartkiller? Well…ummm….errrr. Catchy? Yes. Radio-friendly? Check. Shakes my butt? I’m shaking it at this moment!  Will it be a hit? I think so. Supposing I had never heard of HIM and listened to Heartkiller for the first time, would I like it? YES! Did I find it unique and breath-taking? No. BUT! In my opinion HIM’s unique sound lies within those songs that some how never make it to singles… so I’m definately buying the new album!

Did your sparks fly for Heartkiller?
